Please be aware that under the U.S. Constitution, the Township cannot prohibit door-to-door solicitation but we can and do attempt to regulate such activity. The Township’s solicitation Ordinance, previously upheld by federal court, requires a permit from the Township Clerk (which the solicitor must carry) and restricts solicitation hours from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. any day. Homeowners not wanting solicitors may post a sticker or notice on their door, “Private Property – NO SOLICITORS.” Stickers are available at most hardware stores.
